The Last Mrs. Parrish

Pray for a snow day because you won’t want to put this book down. This dark and twisted psychological thriller by Liv Constantine (the pen name for sisters, Lynne and Valerie Constantine)will keep you on the edge of your seat. So settle in with a nice big cup of hot cocoa and when I say hot cocoa I mean hot-toddy.

The book is told in two parts. One by the deranged, Amber Patterson; the other by the beautiful, affluent, Daphne Parrish. Amber ingratiates herself and becomes fast friends with Daphne through a “chance” meeting at the gym where they discover that they both have sisters that have died from Cystic Fibrosis. Of course, Amber’s sister is a complete fabrication but you gotta’ give it to her; she did her homework when researching Daphne. Once Amber has found Daphne’s Achilles Heel – the death of her sister – the story is off and running.

But all is not as it seems! The story has many twists and turns and keeps you up reading ’til the wee hours of the morning. I will give you a heads up: the story can get difficult to read at times especially during the scenes describing Jackson Parrish’s sexual proclivities. My friend gave this book to her older, conservative, staid mother for Christmas. Hmmmm…probably not. Better stick with Maeve Binchy!
